Patrick: Good morning listeners! It's a lovely Saturday morning. Welcome to another exciting episode of 'The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor'. My name is Patrick Ndifon, and I'm going to be anchoring the show for today.

This program is paid for by The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation. Some of our projects include:
• The SunRise School Tour
• The SunRise Academy for Young Leaders.
• The SunRise SMS devotional which reaches over 3,000 persons in 6 countries.
• The SunRise Skills Acquisition Training Programme.
and very soon we are starting The SunRise Prisons Outreach. This is our way of reaching out to young persons in prisons and letting them know that they can create a new future for themselves.

To know more about our work, kindly visit www.sunrisegospelzone.com.

With me in the studio is Mr. Chibuzor Agomuoh, the Executive director of The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation, and Mr. Cheerful Light, the Asst. director for The SunRise Academy for Young Leaders. Guys can you say hello!

Chibuzor: Hello!

Cheerful: Hello!

Patrick: Alright. So last week we began discussing The SunRise Academy for Young Leaders' upcoming Leadership development training programme for teenagers and young adults. Now, that's being organized by The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation.

You can find the transcript of that discussion on our website - www.sunrisegospelzone.com.

We sincerely apologize for posting it late within the week. When we get back from this musical break we are going to continue the discussion we had last week. Right now enjoy this song by 'For King & Country', it is called 'Fine, Fine Life'.

[Music break]

Patrick: Alright, that was 'Fine, Fine Life' by 'For King & Country'. Welcome back! This is still 'The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor' brought to you by The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation. Once again with me in the studio is Mr. Chibuzor Agomuoh and Mr. Cheerful Light.

So guys, last week we talked about the leadership development training coming up in August, and we had a lot of information coming out concerning that training. For those of us listening for the first time, this is a continuation of last week's discussion. I want to ask you to please listen attentively before you begin calling.

Alright, last week our phone line was jammed, but this week we are making provision for an extra line, and once that line is open we'll let you know. For those of you who didn't tune in last week, I'll just give you a brief recap.

First of all, the SunRise Academy for Young Leaders is a project of The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation, designed to equip young persons with essential life skills. Now, the Academy would be organizing its 7th edition of its two-week leadership development training in August for teenagers and young adults.

To know more about that call this number for enquiries - 08106837812.

Mr. Chibuzor I have a question for you. There are several young persons out there who don't perform well, especially in their academics, either as a result of low self-esteem, inferiority complex, and a general lack of self-belief in themselves. Then you have other young persons who are just a head case, some of them are wayward and they give their parents a lot of trouble. Can you tell us how the Academy is going to help reposition and recondition these young persons’ so they can turn around their performances and ultimately become individuals of value?

Chibuzor: Alright. Like I said last Saturday when we started this conversation, I said that things are bound to take a downward spiral when left under normal circumstance unless there is an intervention. You see that in cars, in machines such intervention is called 'maintenance', in humans it is called 'training'.

Third term has just ended. Your 12-year-old, for example, has just come home with an unimpressive result. You have scolded him, you have fumed and fumed and fumed, and the question is, what else are you going to do?
You've called him all names under heaven, some on earth, and some beneath. You've even threatened by saying that you are going to withdraw him from school, what else are you going to do?

This is where many parents miss it, you see your child is having poor performance not because your child is unintelligent, there are underlying issues, issues of low self-confidence. Self-image is a very, very important factor. When a child's self-image is poor, a lot of things are bound to go wrong. Sometimes you make the mistake of comparing your child with other children, telling them how this other person and that other person is a more excellent performer, and sadly that child's confidence is nose-diving. The child is struggling to solve Math, the child is struggling to understand Chemistry, and he doesn't feel he has the confidence to move through.

This programme is specially designed to build the confidence of young persons, particularly teenagers. An onward growth in knowledge is a forward move in life. Information is very important. It may not necessarily be that we are teaching them Chemistry, or Government, or what have you, we are teaching them basic things they need to know that would give them an edge in life.

For example, we are hearing about the #NotTooYoungToRunBill, how would young persons who have not learnt how to run their own lives think of running the community, you understand what I'm saying!

So this is a way of training young minds to take up leadership roles at their capacity, and to do well academically.

We are going to be training them on very important topics on:

·        Personal Transformation

·        Success Habits

·        Excellence-oriented Living

·        Social Graces

·        Goal Setting

·        Personal Finance

·        Relationship Management

·        Leadership Basics, and a lot more.

The motto of SunRise is: Repositioning young lives for greater value.

So this is going to be a life-changing opportunity. We've had sessions with some of these young persons, you've talked about those who are heady and are actually giving their parents problems. We've had sessions with them, and amazingly we've had excellent reviews. This is not the first time we are doing this. It is going to be a great opportunity for parents.

So parents, if you have a timid teenager, a naughty teenager, a heady one, or a smart one whom you are really concerned about his smartness [laughter in the studio], send them to this training starting on the 7th- 18th of August. We have the Green Certificate Course work starting on the weekdays only, and the Blue Certificate Course work on Saturdays only starting from the 12th of August to the 23rd of September, 2017.

So come pick the forms today by 11am at 65 Marian Road (same building as UPS Express, not too far from GLO Office).

Patrick: Alright. Thank you very much. That was powerful. Don't just complain about your kids "Ooooooh....your results are bad....oooh I regret......." all that and all that, take an active step towards ensuring that the next time, they come home with better results, and one of those steps would be to sign them up for this SunRise Academy for Young Leaders, very important.

Cheerful let's talk about a typical day in the Academy, what's that like? What do the participants hope to experience in the upcoming SunRise Academy for Young Leaders?

Cheerful: Oh boy.... okay, SunRise Academy for Young Leaders. There is always an orientation prior to the Academy because the first day we get to establish ground rules, get you acquainted with what happens in the Academy, why we do what we do, the facilitator, and all of that. Then we have a word of prayer and the facilitation takes place.

We have two trainings each day, lasting two hours, and of course we have the aerobics session where we shake of the lethargy and everybody is lively, it's always fun. Music and exercise is powerful and it's good for the body. They stay alert and everybody just has fun, and of course there's another important part of the Academy which is the Convo session.

The Convo comes after the group interaction. We allow them time to ponder on what's being taught, brainstorm, integrate what they have learnt into their day-to-day activity, and then produce the results that we expect them to see.

After that we have the Convo, like we talked about. They come, make presentations, and share with others their ideas, what they've learnt, what they intend to do, and how they'll move it from there.

There will be a library where they can pick books. It's fun at the Academy.

Patrick: Wow! That's cool. So don't miss this, guys! Don't miss it.

There are going to be courses being taught. Obviously it's an academy. Let's talk about the quality of information that we are giving out at the SunRise Academy for Young Leaders. Who are the people that would be teaching these courses?

Chibuzor: Alright. First of all, I'll say that we at SunRise we mean business. Those of you that have been listening to this show for months, we are not having this show because we are here to play games, are we here to play games? We are not here to play games. We've been able to dish out very vital information because we are very much concerned about the future of young persons, that's our primary concern.

At SunRise we have life coaches and facilitators who are exposed to top notch information regarding youth development and youth counselling. The information these young persons will be getting is top notch, I would say. Not only are we going to be talking about leadership basics and social graces like I said earlier, we'll be looking at Health management, Entrepreneurship. We'll also be looking at Web Design and Digital Marketing, very important.

An issue that is very important to us is Safety and Security. Interestingly we are going to have someone from the Nigerian Army who is going to come handle that session. So, there are going to be three sessions regarding that topic. A very important topic to help young person’s understand the importance of being security conscious and safety conscious, and we really need that especially at this time.

There are parents who are willing to pay a lot for this training, but we have made it to be really affordable for parents. N3,500 only. Parents have started picking forms, so parents this is for the good of your child. You want your child to be significant, this is a very important decision you need to make. Come to 65/66 Ndidem Isang Iso Road, Calabar to pick your forms. We've called out the number, Patrick will call out the number again so you could make more enquiries.

Patrick: So you have it guys. It's an opportunity to experience top notch information from experienced facilitators. You don't want to miss out! There is a lot that you'll be taking from this academy that are very relevant in today's time. So make sure your kids are registered and they are signed up for this academy. Text your name, your age, your gender, your career ambition to 08139691344.

Also you can pick up your registration forms at Number 65 Ndidem Isang Iso Road, Calabar between the hours of 11am and 1pm.

Right now we are going on a short musical break with a song by Nathaniel Bassey. It is titled 'Casting Crowns'.

[Music break]

Patrick: Alright. Welcome back! This is still 'The SunRise Convo with Chibuzor' brought to you by The SunRise Youth Intervention Organisation. We are still discussing the upcoming training of. the SunRise Academy for Young Leaders. For enquiries call this number: 08139691344.

You'll find the transcript on our website by Wednesday. Be sure to visit www.sunrisegospelzone.com to read the transcript and that of previous shows.

Let's talk about the registration that is on right now. Registration is on. Why is it important that parents should register that wards on time?

Cheerful: Now let me say this to the parents, if you are listening to me. Whatever your child turns out to be in life, is your responsibility, it's your fault. You can argue that until you are blue in the face, but that's the truth. Raising a super kid is not a mystery, it's based on principles. So, your child cannot be better, and I repeat, your child cannot be better than the quality of investment you've made in him or her.

Raising a super kid is more than buying them indomie, taking them to Neka Island, or buying them a smart phone. It's the kind of investment you make in them. For N3,500 you can have a kid who is smart, who is voracious, intelligent, and has a head start in life. If you are listening to me as a young person, you don't have a mom, you don't have a dad? You need to take charge of your life. Look for the money. Don't say, I don't have cash. Whatever it is you need to do to raise money to register immediately, do it to give yourself a head start in life. The number to call is 08139691344. There is no need to wait. The best time to do it is to do it now.

Patrick: So you've heard it! 08139691344. Call now! And you can also pick up your forms at 65/66 Ndidem Isang Iso Road, Calabar between the hours of 11am and 1pm.

Is there going to be an orientation like a pre-academic course to give participants and idea of what to expect?

Chibuzor: Yes, there is going to be an orientation. Let me make this clear, we have the Green Certificate Course Work and the Blue Certificate course work. The Green Certificate course work is going to run for two weeks, Mondays to Fridays at 3 Saint Mary Street of Ekpo Abasi, Calabar starting from August 7th to the 18th, 2017. Time is 8:30am to 12 noon.

The Blue Certificate course work holds only on Saturdays at 65 Ndidem Isang Iso Road, Calabar. It starts on August 12 and ends September 23, 2017. Time is 11am to 2:30pm.

This gives you an option, those of you living around HighWay, 8 miles, Ikot Ansa, and those of you living around Ekpo Abasi, Yellow Duke, Inyang, Mayne Avenue, Edgerley, this gives you an option to choose which is convenient for your child. Of course there's going to be an orientation to help brief participants on what is expected of them.

There's going to be security check, we'll have persons from the Nigerian Legion who would handle security. Security is of immense concern to us, though we've not had any crazy experience before. They'll be informed on what is expected, the rules and regulations, what is expected of them, the materials to come with, the time that the training is going to start and everything that is required.
So we are using this opportunity to ask you to call the number: 08139691344.

Patrick: The number to call is 08139691344. I believe this is a really wonderful opportunity for young persons out there, and parents, I know you want the best for your wards, the best for your children, and opportunity like this doesn't come by easily. You cannot be greater than the quality of investment you give yourself. And the time to do it is right now. We are here to help you.
