But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
- John 20:31
The Bible is the only book which reveals to us the nature of God and His ultimate plan for mankind. It is the only book that helps you understand who you are and from whence you came from. Scientific discoveries have never negated the Bible. They have only substantiated further what we have in the scriptures. It is just sad that there are people who feel they have the responsibility to contradict the scriptures. Some of them have written books which with better knowledge a lot of them regret. Before we look into the summary of the Bible, there are three (3) basic things you need to understand which are:
1. The origin of God.
2. The origin of Satan.
3. The origin of Man.
1. The Origin of God
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
- Psalm 90:2
God is the only being that has no beginning and would have no end. It is hard for the human mind to grasp. We have studied the world so well with our minds that it is hard to believe there is anything existent without a beginning. But God has revealed to us through His Word that He has an eternal past and an eternal future.
Know that the Lord Himself is God, It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
- Psalm 100:3
All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
- John 1:3
By faith we understand that the worlds we created by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
- Hebrews 11:3
2. The Origin of Satan
Satan was an angel created by God. A time came that he rebelled against God. God wrecked judgment on him and the angels who cooperated with him. Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel 28:12-19 gives us the history of Satan. It also makes reference to the king of Babylon, the king of Tyre, and the spiritual personality behind the kings.
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Yet thou shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say into him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the Sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and the gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering Cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Thou hast defiled many sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffic; therefore will I bring forth fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
3. The Origin of Man
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- Genesis 1:26-27:
Genesis Chapter 1 & 2 explains that Adam and Eve were the first created humans on earth. Now that we have an understanding of the origin of God, the origin of man, and the origin of Satan, let's go on with our summary of the Bible.
Satan had been dethroned and casted out from the glory of God. By his absence from the glory of God, his nature became corrupted. One day, he discovered that God had made another creature. He wasn't bothered about the animals, for he knew they had a lower kind of life. But this new being looks like God in a physical body. Looking deep, he discovered that this new being has a kind of life much higher than his. "By creating this new being, God has shamed me and made me useless...” those may have been his thought.
Not too long afterwards, he looked again into the garden, and discovers there is yet another creature. This one looks more beautiful and sophisticated, yet the very same version of the one he had earlier seen. She was created to help Adam. He couldn't take it anymore. He devised a plan to make them lose their glory and to shame them, including their future offspring (for he knew they were designed to reproduce).
Adam and Eve were an extraordinary pair. Their ability was unfathomable. They could do so much because they were made to function as God's representatives on the earth.
They had a brain that functioned 100% in its capacity. They had a body that could not die or be fatigued. They could talk to and hear from animals, little wonder Satan took the form of a serpent to talk to Eve. It would have been weird, and a shock if Eve was hearing from a serpent for the very first time. But most importantly, they had a kind of life, a human life that was higher than any other.
God had created two special trees in the garden:
1. The tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil
2. The tree of Life.
There were permitted to eat of all others (including the tree of life), but were instructed not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. God purposely did so for man to have the opportunity to exercise the power of free will. This is what differentiates him from every other creature.
There were warned that the day they eat of the tree, they would die. It wasn't a physical death, but a spiritual death (disconnection in fellowship with God which will subsequently and progressively lead to aging and death of the physical body).
In Genesis 3, we discovered that Satan being very subtle in his scheme did not approach Adam but Eve, not because Eve was easy to be deceived, but because he was jealous of her glory and beauty. Adam was the express image of God's strength and authority, but Eve was the effulgence of God's glory and beauty. She reminded him of heaven, she reminded him of what he had lost. He was jealous of what she had, for he too was once one of heaven's beauty, but is no more. So that jealousy drove him to Eve.
"Ye shall not surely die: For God knows that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods knowing good and evil".
- Genesis 2:4 & 5
Those were the words of Satan to the woman. He understood the power of obedience and the power of free will. Eve agreed with Satan and ate the fruit. She gave some to her husband, he too ate and both of them had an experience of the fruit.
By them listening to Satan they lost a greater part of their essence to him. Instead of being wiser, they became more conscious of their physical bodies than they were of the glory of God which was their covering. The human spirit (that part of man which was designed to have fellowship with God), lost the life and glory of God and became filled with darkness, just like Satan. And by being able to deceive man, Satan claimed ownership of Adam's stead, and had the title deed of the earth to rule and influence mankind.
God placed a curse on Eve, on the earth against Adam, on the serpent and the spiritual influence behind it which deceived Eve, announcing that through the seed of the woman, Satan would be crushed. That must have struck fear in Satan’s heart. So he made a promise to himself to continue to deceive all of Eve's children, and he is doing so till this very day.
Sadly, Adam and Eve were driven out of Eden (the glory of God), and two Cherubs were sent to protect the tree of life. For if they had eaten of the tree of life in their rebellious state, mankind would have forever been condemned without the hope of salvation. But before they were driven out, God made an atonement for their sin. An animal was killed, and the skin (still dripping with blood) was used to cover their nakedness as a replacement of the leaves they had used.
Adam and Eve began to reproduce. They still taught their children to honor and sacrifice to the Lord, but they couldn't stop their transmission of the dark nature they had inherited from Satan by the single act of listening to him. Man could no longer relate with God from his spirit, but through his senses. From that moment on in each generation, God began to look for a man with whom He can reveal Himself to the world. From Enoch, to Noah, and then to Abraham.
In Abraham, God found a man who was so willing to listen to Him, and He made a strong covenant with him. It was a covenant of circumcision, for God knew that the man is the carrier of the human life. The removal of the foreskin meant that God has begun a process in His plan to remove the old, corrupted nature of man. So by asking Abraham to circumcise himself and every male in his household, it was a prophetic declaration that old things will soon pass away and all things regarding the human life will become new.
This covenant moved on to Isaac (the son of promise), to Jacob and to his descendants (which is the nation of Israel).
Then came the law through Moses. This was God's way of making His covenant people obedient and submissive to His authority, and to make them conscious of their need for salvation. But He knew they had no ability to understand and serve Him the way He had wanted, for the hour had not yet come for them to worship Him in Spirit and in truth.
The covenant moved down to David (Psalm 89), the one who showed reverence unto God through psalms and worship. Unlike Satan who wanted praise for himself, David even as a King offered genuine worship to God. And God asked him to prepare his son, Solomon, to build him a temple where His presence can be experienced. Prophetically, God was saying that through his seed he will bring forth a son who will recreate man's spirit to become a living temple unto Him (1Corinthians 6:19 & 20). That agreement continued until the moment of fulfillment.
For thousands of years, God has sent his message of righteousness through His anointed prophets, but the people could not understand it.
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the world…
- Hebrews 1:1&2
So God made a plan to reveal Himself and His plan for mankind through one Person. This Person was to be born of a woman, but with a different kind of life. A life different from the one Adam's children have, and a life different from the one Adam had.
How it is possible that this new human would be born without the sin of Adam just like every other human inherited and became a carrier of it?
We know in science that the blood, the life of a child comes from his father, not his mother. His body comes from his mother, but his life comes from his father. For this new human to be without sin, He has to come from God, not through a man's seed. His life has to be from God. In Him is Zoë (which means: The God-kind of life, and is translated in English as: eternal life). For him to have a body, he has to be born of a woman.
How did Mary receive this life into her body? She received it through the spoken word, and when she believed the message by the angel, that life was supernaturally planted in her womb. That life is Jesus!
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
- John 1:1-5.
The life in Jesus Christ was not just life for Himself, but was meant to be the light that lighted up every man that comes into the world. For every man born was born with darkness in his spirit. Nothing could change man's nature, not even sacrifices, not even the law could change man.
He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world world knew him not. He came unto His own (His covenant people) and his own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the SONS OF GOD, even to them that believe on His name; which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of GOD.
- John 1:10-13.
Jesus is called 'The Second/last Adam,' because He heads a new creation, a new order of human beings who have a human body, but a God-kind of life, while Adam heads an order of sinful men. Jesus came to teach God's Word to mankind; to die as the ultimate sacrifice for mankind's sin and rebellion, and to translate all of mankind from death unto life.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues, and perfections of Him who called you bout of darkness into His marvelous light.
- 1 Peter 2:9
Through His death on the Cross and His resurrection, received power to bring us out of darkness into God's marvelous light (which is eternal life: The nature and life of God).
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one [Adam]; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
- Romans 5:17
The experience of having the life of Adam supernaturally uprooted from your spirit, and having the life that is in Jesus Christ planted in your human Spirit is called "The New Birth'. His life is the light that dispels the darkness in our spirit, and the darkness cannot resist it. The darkness could resist the blood atonement of rams and sheep (for it could only cover sins, it could not wash it away). The darkness could resist the law, because they kept failing and failing and failing at it. But this one, this life, could not be drowned. It could not be quenched; it could not be extinguished. It is God's eternal seal in our spirit. It was made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross, and His resurrection from the dead.
Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again ( anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the Kingdom of God.
- John 3:3
You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.
- 1 Peter 1:23
Through Jesus Christ, God's ultimate plan for mankind has been made manifest.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- John 3:16
Satan has once again been brought under our authority.
Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.
- Luke 10:19
And soon he will be finally judged and eternally condemned. Apostle John, by a divine vision saw the future of Satan,
Then the devil who had led them astray [deceiving and seducing them] was hurled into the fiery lake of burning brimstone, where the beast and false prophet were; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever (through the ages of the ages).
- Revelation 20:10
All those who continue to live and die with Adam's nature of sin, are condemned to eternal separation from God. All those who once had Adam's old nature, but have received the life and nature of Jesus Christ through faith in His name, they all have a beautiful future.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life (those who are dead) in Christ will rise first.
Then we, the living ones who remain [on the earth], shall simultaneously be caught up along with [the resurrected dead] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so always ( through the eternity of eternities) we shall be with the Lord!
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16 & 17
What a beautiful hope!
Therefore, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
- Romans 8:1
There is no condemnation for the new man in Christ.
I do not frustrate the grace of God; for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
- Galatians 2:21
This is the summary of the gospel. Jesus is God's answer to the darkness in your life. The reason why addiction to sex and drugs, depression, failure, demonic oppression, hate, bitterness, envy, etc. has held you hostage is because you are still under the control of Satan. But you can come out of his mess if you believe this gospel I have shared with you, and declare with your mouth that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and rose from the dead, and is now the Savior and Lord of your life, you will be saved. You will receive eternal life (Romans 10:9&10). So go ahead, lift up your voice and cry out to Jesus. Ask Him to utterly save you, to utterly cleanse you, to utterly heal you.
"Fear not, I am the first and the last: I am He that liveth, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and death.
- Revelation 1:17&18
